Cathedral Parish
Welcome:
Welcome to the Cathedral of Saint Andrew. As a community of faith we are proud to be the parish that is also the mother Church of the Diocese. It is in the Cathedral that Bishop David Walkowiak presides over the liturgy, and through that symbolism presides over the Diocese. The Cathedral is so called because the chair or cathedra of the Bishop resides here. You can see the cathedra at the rear right of the altar. Only the Bishop uses that chair when he presides.
While the Cathedral reminds us of the Bishop’s authority, it is also a parish, a people of God making the journey to Jerusalem to which we are called by Jesus. We who worship here each Sunday do so because we recognize that Church is a people who believe that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and who consciously choose to follow his example and teachings. If you are looking for a new church home, your mother Church welcomes you wholeheartedly. If you are just passing through Grand Rapids and visiting the Cathedral, you are welcome to join us anytime. If you are one of our parishioners, we are blessed and grateful to have you journey with us as together we praise the Lord for his many gifts.
God bless,
Very Rev. Dat Tran, CSP
Rector.
